You have got a new phone. You like its appearance. You like all its features. In short, you are in love with your phone. But your phone is too hi-tech and you get stuck while using some of its features. You want to make your own ringtone but don’t know how. Don’t worry, the present blog post may help you in this quest. Make Own Ringtones

Open the feature iTunes in your phone. Find the song of your choice. Listen to it. Find the part of it which you want to convert into ringtone. Generally, the chorus is a good part to start with. Whichever part you have selected, write the start and stop times of the clip. Right click on the song and select “Get Info.” Now, click on the “options” tab. Type in the time of start of the selected ringtone.

The next step is to type in the time of end of your ringtone in the text box next to “Start Time” in the minutes: seconds (i.e., 2:01). Make it a point that your ringtone does not exceed 40 seconds. Now, click on “OK.” Right click the song again. Select “Convert Selection to AAC.” Be patient as the iTunes convert your song. It would create a duplicate version.  Click on the “Keep Files” button.

Replace the m4a extension of your ringtone with m4r. Double click to rename your file. Alternatively, right click and select “Get Info” on a Mac or “Rename” on a Windows PC.  Click on “Use m4r” when the system gives you a warning that, any change may affect the use of the file. Double click on the ringtone file. iTunes will get added to the ringtones folder automatically in your iTunes Music Library.
